Job summary

Hertfordshire Partnership NHS Trust is an Outstanding Provider of mental health services. Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Service (CRHTT) meet the needs of individual's living in Hertfordshire who are experiencing a mental health crisis. The aim is to provide a multidisciplinary approach in understanding their difficulties and formulating and implementing brief interventions to support the crisis to resolve.

We now have a vacancy for one preceptorship post band 7 or 8a (depending on experience). We welcome band 7 applicants who want to progress in their career, and also CBT therapists with the right experience.

The role can be based at either North team -Stevenage, South East team - Ware or South West team - Watford.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity to develop the psychological assessment, formulation and therapy elements of the service, as well as enhancing the psychological awareness of the team as a whole. Opportunities for clinical supervision and line management are also available within this post.

It will suit an HCPC registered Clinical or Counselling Psychologist or BABCP accredited CBT Therapist with experience in mental health. Some experience of working within acute or crisis settings, or specialist services engaging individuals with psychosis or personality disorder would be of benefit. A solid understanding of recovery principles is essential. The role will suit someone who enjoys working flexibly and in collaboration as part of a multidisciplinary team.

THE POST IS ALSO AVAILABLE AS A SECONDMENT OPPORTUNITY FOR THOSE APPLICANTS ALREADY WORKING WITHIN HPFT.

The post holder will be professionally supervised by an appropriately experienced Senior Clinical Psychologist and will have the opportunity to influence and shape the evolving crisis services.

  • Post-graduate doctorate in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, or fully completed training as a Counselling Psychologist
  • At least two years' experience working as a qualified practitioner with clients with severe mental illness within a mental health setting.
  • Current full registration with HCPC
  • Training in risk assessment and management.

Desirable

  • Post-qualification training in assessment and intervention models in one or more of the following: CBT, Systemic Therapy, Family Interventions.
  • Experience of working within acute or crisis services.
  • Experience of supervising qualified clinical staff from a range of professional backgrounds including HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologists.
