Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and innovative Speech & Language Therapist (SLT) to join the Specialist Learning Disability Service based in East and North Hertfordshire.

The successful candidate will work as an influential and integral member of a diverse multi-disciplinary specialist learning disability health team, working throughout East and North Hertfordshire, with adults with learning disabilities and communication difficulties, across a range of settings, including service users own homes.

Main duties of the job

You will be forward thinking and able to demonstrate clinical knowledge in the management of communication difficulties, based on current evidence. You will autonomously undertake specialist assessments & interventions and support with the development of the communication pathway. The person successful in their application will be an essential member of the MDT team, working alongside Medical, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Arts Therapies, Physiotherapy and Social Care colleagues to support our service users achieve their goals.

We would welcome applications from motivated SLT's currently working in other areas of the profession, looking to gain experience working with adults with learning disabilities. Training and support will be provided for candidates that might be new to the field of Learning Disabilities.

The post offers good links with SLT colleagues throughout HPFT services, with regular supervision, opportunities for CPD and training. There is a strong ethos of Continuous Quality Improvement throughout the service and the Trust as a whole, overall creating possibilities for developing and extending knowledge and skills.
