Due to the expansion of our inpatient unit (Astley Court) and Enhanced Assessment and Treatment service (EATs Community Service) a new opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Psychologist to join our servicesin NORFOLK.
Astley Court is a purpose built Assessment & Treatment Service for people who have a Learning Disability and may have additional Mental Health needs. The EATs team provides intensive support to people in the community who may be at risk of hospital admission.
Main duties of the job
We are seeking a forward thinking enthusiastic and flexible professional to join the team and oversee the future development of the services. The candidate will work closely with the clinical teams of both the Astley Court inpatient service and the EATs team to ensure the effective co-ordination of clinical and operational service delivery.
The post is based at Astley Court at Little Plumstead Hospital, Norwich Norfolk and is part of HPFT Norfolk services.

TRAINING AND QUALIFICATION
Essential
- Doctoral level training in clinical psychology or approved equivalent.
- Registered as a clinical psychologist with Health Professional council.
Desirable
- Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice.
EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist for a minimum of two years with significant experience with people with a learning disability.
- Experience of working with a range of people, across the range of clinical severity in community and residential settings.
- Experience of working in team with multiple disciplines and managing complex inter-disciplinary situations.
- Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision.
- Experience of the application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts.
Desirable
- Experience in managing and leading service development projects.
- Experience in providing psychological consultation to other service providers in the statutory, private and voluntary sectors.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

- Skills in methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management.
- Well developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues, both within and outside the NHS.
- Knowledge of the psychological theory and practice in relation to difficult to treat groups (e.g. people with challenging behaviour, personality disorder, dual diagnoses or additional disabilities.)
