An Exciting Opportunity is awaiting you if you are a highly motivated,
enthusiastic Nurse with excellent communication skills. We want
you to join our team on our 23 bedded Gastroenterology ward - Aconbury 4.
The Gastroenterology ward
cares for patients with a range of disorders such as liver disease, Crohn's
disease, colitis, hepatic encephalopathy, pancreatic
and bowel cancer. The range of treatments that these patients require are
ascitic drains, pig tail drains, nasal gastric tube feeding, ryles tubes, TPN,
infliximab intravenous medication, care of central lines, endoscopic procedures
and administration of human albumin, FFP and blood.
The ability to communicate effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary team is essential. This post includes close working relationships with IBD specialist nurses, drug and alcohol liaison nurse, endoscopy team, dieticians and palliative care. You will be supported in this post by the ward sister and team, Matron for medicine and the specialist nurses.
We aim to provide an individualised and supportive environment for
patients in which to deliver this specialised care for acutely unwell patients.

Main duties of the job
We are looking for someone who wants to increase their gastroenterology experience and really wants to work in this rewarding environment. If you have cannulation, phlebotomy, or central lines skills it will be an advantage, but if not, then you should have enthusiasm and dexterity to develop these skills. Newly qualified staff can benefit from the trust preceptorship program and in addition all new staff will have a two-week bespoke induction program, specific to Gastroenterology: This will include the trust induction program and spoke placements with endoscopy, IBD specialist nurses, drug and alcohol liaison nurse and critical care outreach team. We are also able to offer dedicated staff to progress towards their masters course.

- To complete patient documentation correctly.
- To assist in establishing and monitoring protocols / care pathways. To participate in the promotion and maintenance of effective communication with patients, relatives and other staff.
- To support peoples equality, diversity and rights at all times.
- To safe guard vulnerable adults in accordance with agreed policies and procedures.
