We are looking for a dynamic, highly motivated and enthusiastic midwife to work within the coordinator leadership team at Worcester Royal Hospital. As a delivery suite coordinator, you will work in partnership with other band 7 coordinators, ward managers, matrons, and medical obstetric colleagues to ensure an excellent standard of care is provided to women and their families.

You will be located on Delivery Suite and Triage providing clinical care and leadership guidance, support and advice to other members of the team, over a 24 hour period.

Our ideal candidate will have a wide range of clinical skills and be keen to take part in the leadership of the unit. You will work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team and strive to improve the quality of our services.

Applications are welcomed from passionate Band 6 and Band 7 midwives who have recent experience of labour care and an understanding of both low and high risk antenatal pathways.

Main duties of the job

The Band 7 Midwife has a continuing responsibility to coordinate Delivery Suite and Maternity Triage demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The band 7 will facilitate innovative and evidence-based midwifery practice through professional leadership and supporting the clinical team. The band 7 will act as a credible and professional role model and encourage and empower other staff to develop both personally and professionally to achieve their maximum potential. The band 7 must maintain an awareness of the condition of all Delivery Suite patients as well as high risk patients on the Antenatal and Postnatal ward. The band 7 will participate in Medical staff handovers and Consultant ward rounds. The band 7 will assist in managing workload, skill mixes, staffing levels, bed availability. The Band 7 will have regular exposure to unpredictable high levels of clinical activity and must have the ability to prioritise workload despite completing demands and constantly changing service requirements, where it is essential to remain calm under pressure. This will be paramount when undertaking the role of the Unit Coordinator. The postholder will actively engage in professional development, and quality improvement, while supporting student learning and contributing to a positive team culture.
