Do you want to?

  • work where you can thrive professionally and personally,
  • be a part of true multidisciplinary working,
  • work closely with your community partners,
  • have an opportunity to develop into specialist roles,
  • experience great satisfaction from patients, carers and relatives,
  • drive the STP vision for excellent Acute Stroke Services for the population we serve?

Our Acute Stroke Unit has recently been relocated to a 26 bedded unit; the unit also has a TIA Clinic with dedicated Stroke Clinical Nurse Specialists and Stroke Support Workers. We have an established Clinical Nurse Specialist team who are based within the unit and work closely with the nursing team.

The stroke team members will welcome you with open arms: in a friendly and supportive environment regardless of their role or responsibility. You will rejoice in being able to provide excellent nursing and clinical care for stroke patients in their acute phase, resulting in optimal patient outcomes. Excellent communication skills are vital for our patients, carers and relatives to ensure well co-ordinated care across the Worcestershire Stroke Pathway, as we work with many specialist nursing teams, medics and therapists.

Main duties of the job

Our priority is to ensure a person-centred approach to care when our patients are likely to be at their most vulnerable. As a busy unit, with a rapid flow of patients having a higher level of care acuity: including NG and PEG feeding, complex IV medications and complex functional and cognitive care needs, we are looking for nurses that can deliver compassionate care in a fast-paced unit.

In return we will offer you excellent learning and developmental opportunities; we will support your personal growth through regular personal development planning and our educational strategy. Newly qualified staff can benefit from the trust preceptorship program and in addition all new staff will have a two week bespoke induction program, specific to the Acute Stroke Unit: This will include the trust induction program and spoke placements with the Stroke specialist nurses, all therapists, and clinical investigations.
