Job summary

A registered pharmacist responsible for the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust wide pharmacy Cancer Services, Aseptic services, Clinical Trials, performance leadership and strategy development. Deputises for the Chief Pharmacist, fulfilling leadership roles and provides suitable handover and communications during these periods.

Ensures professional leadership, strategy and operation of the pharmacy service provision is progressive, responsive to internal and external legislation and guidance, patient focused, safe, efficient and effective.

Main duties of the job

A registered pharmacist responsible for the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust wide pharmacy Cancer Services, Aseptic services, Clinical Trials, performance leadership and strategy development. Deputises for the Chief Pharmacist, fulfilling leadership roles and provides suitable handover and communications during these periods.

Ensures professional leadership, strategy and operation of the pharmacy service provision is progressive, responsive to internal and external legislation and guidance, patient focused, safe, efficient and effective.

Accountable for measurable service improvements in quality and safety whilst ensuring effective budget control and delivery of productivity efficiencies.

Accountable for development of strategic plans for the pharmacy service and the co-ordination of the wider business planning for the pharmacy Cancer Services. Aseptic Services and Clinical Trials ensuring alignment to the overall strategy for pharmacy service and the Trust, where appropriate, while maintaining service viability.

Leads, develops, delivers and evaluates the portfolio of services:

Delivery of SACT including oral and parenteral individual doses of SACT

Aseptic unit services for the manufacture of patient specific doses of SACT

Delivery of clinical services to haematology and oncology patients

Delivery of clinical trial services to WAHT patients

Experience

  • Significant experience in acute hospital setting demonstrating clinical and management effectiveness sufficient to develop and proactively lead the pharmacy team
  • Proven ability to work well in a multi-professional team; working effectively including breaking down silos to work in partnership both internally and externally
  • Knowledge of the current major clinical workflow and pathways in hospitals including a broad knowledge of ePMA (prescribing and Administration Systems) and application in healthcare
  • Experience in delivering change using knowledge of quality improvement methodologies
  • Experience in supervising others, leading and managing change, working at a leadership level, a record in achievement in leading and managing change, solving problems and managing complex situations
