This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and forward-thinking team. Cardiac Catheter Suite at Worcester includes 2 laboratories, with plans of expansion, providing 24/7 PPCI for the populations of Worcestershire and Herefordshire and further afield. In addition, we also undertake electrophysiology studies and implantation of complex devices.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills and leadership qualities, you will have drive, vision and initiative to motivate others and develop this service.

Excellent decision-making skills and evidence of continuous professional development are essential, and you must also have experience of working in both cardiology and a multi-professional environment.

The successful applicant will gain skills in this speciality and undertaking in-house training to support them in this role.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an experienced nurse who has worked and gained the relevant experience as a band 5/6 within Cardiac Catheter Lab or Cardiology.

Job responsibilities

  • To be responsible, with the support of the manager, for the day to day, smooth running of the PPCI 24/7 within the Cardiac Catheter Suite.

  • This service will run on a shift rota basis, on-call 24/7.

  • To provide effective leadership and to act as a good role model, working with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and co-ordinate all aspects of care in the best interests of the patient and family.

  • To ensure the maintenance of a high quality patient focussed care at all times through the effective leadership, management of staff and resources.

  • This will include leading a team of nurses to deliver a high standard of care in the areas of pre assessment, pre peri and post procedure care and follow up of angiography, elective/primary/rescue angioplasty and pacemakers and cardioversion patients.

  • To act as team leader for clinical staff.

  • To be responsible for clinical and non-clinical management of a ward area in the absence of the Senior Sister / Charge Nurse.
