Job summary

To gain experience, initiate and maintain a systematic, holistic approach to patient care, its implementation and evaluation. To contribute towards an atmosphere that is conductive to learning and the initiation of research based practices.

To participate in maintaining a safe working environment.

The post holder would be able to gain experience in management by participating in the management of the department alongside more senior staff.

To assist with changes and improvements within the department.

To coordinate and manage clinics within the outpatients department.

Main duties of the job

Assist in assessing peoples health and wellbeing related needs.

Assist in planning and delivering own evaluation programme to meet peoples health and wellbeing needs.

To maintain good and effective communications with patients, relatives and visitors to the department.

To ensure that there is clear and concise reporting, oral and written, of relevant information regarding the care and well being of the patients.

Establish and maintain communications with people about routine and daily activities, overcoming any differences in communication between the people involved.

Influence the development of knowledge, ideas and work practice.

To gain management experience by participating in managing the department.

To assist medical staff and carry out procedures.

To liaise effectively with other members of the multi-professional team to ensure a high standard of co-ordinated care to the patient.

To assist in ensuring that all nursing staff work within the UKCC Code of Professional Conduct.

To carry out nursing duties, procedures and policies in accordance with the NMC Scope of Professional Practice June 2002 and with the Trust Policies and Procedures.

To attend professional meetings and study sessions as appropriate and keep an up to date professional portfolio.

To prepare and set up clinics.

To undertake clinical observations.

To independently undertake clinical procedures and treatments within own capability.
