Your insights will guide the development and implementation of pioneering informatics solutions, bridging the gap between pharmacy and healthcare technology.
Main duties of the job
Ensuring all aspects of
Pharmacy IT systems software and hardware are set up and operated in a safe
manner that complies with best practice and meet the needs of the department.
Supporting with the
management of the pharmacy stock management system and other pharmacy IT
systems, including stand-alone functions in case of systems failure.
Supporting and
developing the operational aspects of automated medicines storage systems (in
conjunction with Dispensary Manager and Chief Technician) in pharmacy and
outside on wards and clinical areas.
Supporting the Chief
for Clinical Informatics and ePMA in the day-to-day management of the EPMA
system including the production of standard operating procedures (SOPs) on the
use and management of the system.
Managing, developing and providing the
pharmacy technical elements of the ward-based pharmaceutical service to both
the allocated specialist area (cross-site).
Facilitating seamless pharmaceutical care to
patients and technical pharmacy support to medical and nursing staff to ensure
the safe and cost-effective use of medicines within the post-holders
specialist area.
Working unsupervised using his/her own
initiative to effectively manage the workload of junior technicians, junior
pharmacists and students including liaison with specialist pharmacists.
Fulfilling all the roles and responsibilities
of an accredited accuracy checking technician within the pharmacy department as
required if applicable.

providers and others as necessary to overcome any difficulties in the operation
of the systems.
1.2. Provide regular updates with progress to
any system problems in line with department procedures
1.3. Authorise users and generate passwords
for any pharmacy IT systems
1.4. Maintain and update procedures and
policies covering all aspects of the use of the pharmacy IT systems.
1.5. Develop and maintain training programs
for any pharmacy IT systems, as well as deliver training to new members of
staff on the system.
1.6. Aid the development and implementation
of any required SOPs and policies to ensure that all WAHT Pharmacy staff can
use the pharmacy IT systems to perform their roles.
1.7. Audit compliance with these procedures.
1.8. Use the pharmacy IT systems and standard
computer software to produce management reports, plans, policies and procedures
as required.
1.9. Assist in the maintenance and amendment
of the pharmacy computer system files to ensure up to date information on the
system including dispensing templates.
1.10. Assist in the upgrades of the standalone
computers and base-stations

users to assist with training

maintaining the tracker system

- Experience of working in a technical support role and proven experience in the development and support of IT systems within a health care setting to include implementing/problem solving clinical and pharmacy IT systems or automated storage systems.
- Current experience of teaching or training technical staff or students in pharmacy department or equivalent experience
- Current experience in communicating across care interfaces
Desirable
- Experience of implementing and working with EPMA systems
- Experience of working with pharmacy stock management systems
- Experience of robotics and automation
- Current hospital proven experience of successfully delivering technical pharmacy services as a qualified technician including dispensary and aseptic services
Qualifications
