Job summary
The HSDU (Sterile Services) department is an enthusiastic team who work in a busy fast paced department. The Sterile Services Department reprocesses surgical instruments for the Trust and surrounding areas. The department works from 6am to 10pm Monday to Friday. Recently two new operating theatres have opened within the Alexandra Hospital to tackle the waiting list backlog following the Covid pandemic. This has created more Sterile Services Assistant job opportunities within the HSDU department. The shift available is 2pm to 6pm Monday to Friday. The department offers a six month on the job training programme. . The department is looking to offer an NVQ qualification in the future. Opportunities do arise within the department to progress to a Supervisor and potentially a future manager.
Annual leave entitlement starts at 27 days + Bank Holidays
29 days + Bank Holidays (5 years)
33 days + Bank Holidays (10 years)
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the role are the collection of used surgical instruments, preparing the instruments for the washer disinfector. The reassembly of the surgical instrument trays, closely inspecting for cleanliness and damage, wrapping of the surgical instruments. The sterilisation and delivery of the reprocessed surgical instruments.
