Job summary
If you are committed to a role which supports patient care, is different every day and provides you with an opportunity to reach your potential, come and talk to us about our pharmacy assistant roles. Would you enjoy the opportunity to play a role in Putting Patients First and giving our patients the Right care, first time, every time?
We are looking for committed individuals who are keen to join the world of hospital pharmacy, and our friendly team, to make a difference to patient care, who are at the heart of everything in the pharmacy. We currently have opportunities in the pharmacy at the Alexandra Hospital, Redditch.
You will often be the first point of contact for health care professionals across the hospital and members of the public using our service. You must be self-motivated, able to pay attention to detail, be able to work to deadlines and have strong communication skills.
An NVQ level 2 in pharmacy services or the dispensing assistant course qualification is desirable, however, full training will be provided to successful applicants. Career progression to band 3 and a more clinical role is encouraged and supported and we are committed to providing flexible working opportunities.
Main duties of the job
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team working closely with Pharmacists, Technicians and other Assistants.
You will have the opportunity as part of the assistant rota to work in all areas of the pharmacy. In the Dispensary, this will include dispensing medication and reception duties. In our Stores and Stock Distribution areas this includes receiving and putting away orders and supplying medication to the wards. You will also be part of the wider ward pharmacy teams replenishing the medications on the wards, via drug top ups.
You would gain skills within an aseptics environment to assist with the making of chemotherapy medication for patients.
All of these duties require a high level of accuracy, an ability to work efficiently within each designated team, and flexibility to undertake varied tasks within your working day.
