CARDIAC CATHETER LABORATORY - PPCI 24/7 SERVICE

UNIT MANAGER BAND 7

FULL TIME - 37.5 HRS

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and forward thinking team.

The Cardiac Catheter Suite at Worcester includes 2 laboratories providing 24/7 PPCI for the populations of Worcestershire and Herefordshire. In addition we also undertake electrophysiology studies; ablation and implantation of complex devices.

Main duties of the job

You will be leading a highly skilled team of Registered Nurses, actively supporting patients receiving treatment and families/carers.

We are looking for a highly skilled leader working collaborative across disciplines to ensure high standards of care are provided to the service users.

You will need to have excellent communication skills, be motivated and enthusiastic, holding a first level degree in health related subject and a relevant qualification in cardiology.

To demonstrate strong clinical leadership in stressful and challenging situations.

To have local open and transparent communication channels that support the ward team to do the right thing for people in our care, to be bold in both supporting good ideas and speaking up when things go wrong.

To act as advocate for their designated area and liase with all members of the multi-disciplinary team to co-ordinate all aspects of patient care in the best interests of the patient and family.

To ensure effective training and educational programmes are available by liaising with appropriate personnel to meet the training and educational needs of nurses in the clinical area. This post carries continuing responsibility for the management of the Ward, including the deployment and supervision of staff.

  • 1st degree or working towards.
  • Coronary Care or Interventional Cardiology Course or equivalent experience.
  • Cardiac catheter lab training or equivalent.
  • Teaching certificate or equivalent.
  • Current ALS - Advanced Life Support.
  • Management Course.

Desirable

  • Recruiting and retaining staff or equivalent.
  • MSC advancing practice.

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

  • Venepuncture, cannulation skills.
  • Evidence of being up to date with BCIS recommendations regarding PCI, Electrophysiology studies and complex devices.
  • Competent in achieving haemostasis following angiography or PCI including the use of closure devices.
  • Competence in scrubbed assistance during angiography / PCI.
  • Computer literate.
  • Evidence of effective working within a Team environment.
  • Has a flexible attitude and is willing to work weekends as per job description and be part of the on-call roster at Worcester.
