Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking to
recruit a Consultant in Acute Medicine. Successful candidates will join a team of
8 consultants. Successful candidates can discuss their specialty interest on appointment. The Directorate provides
services across 3 hospital sites within the county of Worcestershire. The
candidate will benefit from working within a friendly and experienced team of Consultants, Matrons, Foundation Trainees, Core Medical Trainees, Acute Medicine Registrars, Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACPs), and Physician Associates.
As a Trust we are actively involved in developing the
training program for students from the Three Counties Medical School based in
Worcester which opened in September 2023. We look forward to establishing links
with the new Medical School in addition to well-established relationships with
the University of Birmingham and the University of Warwick.
As part of the Consultant Advisory Appointment Committee, shortlisted candidates will be asked to provide a 5 minute presentation on the topic:
"What are your interests outside of Medicine and in what way does this support a healthy wellbeing."

Main duties of the job
- Assessment and early management of patients referred from Primary Care and Emergency Departments.
- Work in the Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) and Ambulatory Emergency Care (AEC) units, which provide 24/7 and daytime emergency care, respectively.
- Participate in the continuous development of acute care services and pathways, ensuring high-quality, patient-centred care.

the Chief Medical Officer, to ensure that it continually reflects the areas of work, clinical responsibility of the post and purchaser requirements.
- A suitably experienced post-holder will be expected to provide a clinical service in the relevant specialty to patients of the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and to General Practitioners.
- The post-holder will be expected to provide a service to patients of the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, General Practitioners and to attend multi-disciplinary meetings. The successful candidate will be expected to work within multi-disciplinary teams in providing high quality clinical care. It is anticipated work will be undertaken on three sites and closer to the patients home. The Trust is seeking to extend services to GP surgeries/health centres etc and job plans may be revised in due course.
