Are you looking for a new challenge? We are looking to recruit a forward-thinking, proactive, highly-motivated individual to join the Colposcopy Service at Worcestershire Acute Hospital NHS Trust. This multi-disciplinary team of Nurse and Consultant Colposcopists provides services across our three hospital sites; Worcestershire Royal Hospital, Kidderminster Treatment Centre and The Alexandra Hospital, Redditch.
We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and committed nurse with a passion for women's health issues. You will be supported professionally by the Gynaecology Clinical Specialist Nurse team to provide clinically excellent, compassionate care.
As the successful candidate you will combine strong clinical credibility and the ability to inspire and influence change with patient outcomes, patient experiences, quality, safety and risk management.
We require that the successful candidate will register with the BSCCP to begin training with successful accreditation at the end of training period. You will be supported by experience Nurse Colposcopists to achieve this. This is a band 6 role which will move to band 7 following successful completion of training. We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills to engage with patients and colleagues at all levels.
Main duties of the job
-
- To provide competent and skilled colposcopy procedures under the direct supervision of the lead Colposcopist. Whilst training as a Nurse Colposcopist it is expected that you will complete colposcopy training under initially direct supervision and within clearly defined parameters.
- To work as a trainee nurse Colposcopist and not simultaneously as a registered nurse member of the clinic staff.
- The Trainee Nurse Colposcopist will sit within the Specialist Nurse rota and be available to attend colposcopy clinics across the county Monday to Friday to ensure training needs are met.
- As a member of the gynaecology directorate multidisciplinary team to have responsibility for ensuring assessment of care needs, development and evaluation of programmes of care ensuring the delivery of high quality care to patients.
- To liaise with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and co-ordinate all aspects of care in the best interests of the patient and family.
- To contribute to the continuing development of practice to all members of the directorate. To supervise junior staff and to teach qualified and unqualified staff as appropriate.
- To liaise closely with the Colposcopy lead trainer and any external mentors to ensure training needs are being met.
