Job summary
A new opportunity has arisen within the Gynaecology nursing team at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust for a Urogynaecology Clinical Nurse Specialist. You will be joining a team of specialist nurses, allied healthcare professionals and consultants who are committed to providing compassionate, evidence based individual care for women with bladder and bowel dysfunction and pelvic organ prolapse.
This is an exciting post for a person that is passionate about developing expert skills in the field of Urogynaecology and particularly the development of our countywide pessary service. We are looking for an individual who is forward thinking, looking for a new challenge and who provides high standards of care. n ideal opportunity for a registered nurse currently working at senior band 5 or Band 6 who wishes to develop, enhance and expand their existing skills. If you have previous gynaecology nursing experience with experience of running your own clinic and working independently are motivated, inspirational and looking for that new challenge, then this could be the opportunity for you.
You will provide clinically excellent and compassionate care. You must have excellent communication skills to engage with patients and colleagues at all levels. You will have the opportunity to further develop your skills, knowledge and autonomous practice.
This role is Countywide with the urogynaecology and pessary service provision currently offered across three sites.
Main duties of the job
Provide competent and skilled care of women with Urogynaecological conditions working within an established multidisciplinary team.
Work as a specialist nursing resource within the outpatient setting not simultaneously as a registered nurse member of the clinic staff. Care will be provided under direct and indirect supervision with due regard for local and national guidelines
The Urogynaecology specialist nurse will sit within the Specialist Nurse rota and be available to attend specialist clinics across the county Monday to Friday to ensure Urogynaecology patients needs are met.
Provide effective leadership to more junior staff and to act as a positive role model.
As a member of the gynaecology directorate multidisciplinary team to have responsibility for ensuring assessment of care needs, development and evaluation of programmes of care ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to patients.
Liaise with all members of the multi-disciplinary team in primary and secondary and co-ordinate all aspects of care in the best interests of the patient and family.
Contribute to the continuing development of practice to all members of the directorate. Supervise junior staff and to teach qualified and unqualified staff as appropriate.
To act in the best interests of the patient in situations where they are unable to make an informed choice for themselves.
