A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and flexible individual to join the Learning & Development team within the Charles Hastings Education Centre at Worcester.

The role requires a proactive, highly organised person who has the ability to prioritise their workload and supervise the administration team and work to tight deadlines. You must have excellent customer service skills and must be proficient in developing effective working relationships with the stakeholders, at all levels. The workload is varied, sometimes challenging and requires someone who has a strong work ethic and a desire to work in a fast paced environment. You should have the ability to demonstrate excellent attention to detail, and to work autonomously as well as part of a team. You will have access to learning and development opportunities.

Main duties of the job

A typical day will involve you responding to queries both by email and telephone, supporting the facilitation of the Trust Corporate Induction. Supporting the team to meet their deadlines and offering support to them. Processing Study Leave Application Forms and raising Purchase Orders to cover fees. Deputising for the Learning & Development Manager in her absence.

Job Purpose:

To lead, plan and co-ordinate training events and courses for Learning and Development Team as directed by Learning and Development Manager and as part of the Trust Education Academy. The post holder is expected to manage their own workload and that of the Learning and Development Administration Team, work on their own initiative and problem solve.

To deputise for the Learning & Development Manager in their absence.

Key Duties:

Main Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for the line management and supervision of the learning & development administration team.

In addition, you will support the Learning & Development team in carrying out audits for key learning and training activities. Including the production of bespoke data and contributing to reports and projects to support the learning & development wider portfolio.

To provide ad-hoc cover for the Learning & Development Manager as required.

Support the Learning & Development Manager to co-ordinate and facilitate the Trust Induction programme.

To contribute to the efficient operation of learning and development management systems through the accurate inputting of data and the regular extraction of reports.

To undertake the organisation and coordination of training events, liaising with trainers, L&D Manager, participants and venues as required, ensuring all arrangements are carried out efficiently and promptly, and using initiative to resolve problems.

Implement policies or processes in own work area. Taking an active role in working groups and proposing changes to working practices or procedures that may impact on Trusts procuredures and work programmes within Learning & Development.

Managerial Responsibilities:

Act as a positive role model for the L&D administration team.

Develop and empower all members of the L&D admin team to perform to high standards and innovate.

To line manage and provide leardership to the L&D administration team including carrying out appraisals and managing absence.

Develop staff knowledge and skills to promote equality and diversity and address inequalities both in employment and service delivery. Ensure specific equality objective are included in PDRs

Develop a working culture that ensures Health & Wellbeing and promotes a Great Place to Work and Learning for staff.

Communication Responsibilities:

Develop channels and mechanisms for clear communication across the Trust for the L&D services.

Manage feedback and compliants from customers/learners/staff and seek to resolve issues in a proactive and customer orientated manner. This may require tact or persuasive skills or there may be barriers to understanding.

Educational Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain knowledge of ESR learning management system by attending the West Midlands Regional Special Interest Group for ESR Learning Management.

Be responsible for communicating ESR enhancements/update to processes to the L&D administrative team.

Infection Control:

All Employees must undertake annual mandatory updates in Infection Control.

Non Smoking Policy:

The Trusts approach to smoking is in line with the governments on-going initiatives for an eventual smoke-free environment. It aims to adhere to the Worcestershire Health Community Campaign to help Worcestershire stop smoking.

A no smoking environment policy exists within all Trust premises including entrances and exits to hospital buildings and on other Trust property (with the exception of staff resident in staffresidences, as these are the homes of staff). In June 2014 a ban was implanted which meant staff, contractors and volunteers were no longer permitted to smoke in any of the hospital grounds, including car parks.

Further to this, The Alexandra, Kidderminster and Worcestershire Royal Hospitals, have all become smoke free to all patients and visitors as of 17 June 2015. This means that, as well as staff, members of the public, patients and visitors are not allowed to smoke in any of the acute hospital grounds, including car parks.

Risk Management:

It is a standard element of the role and responsibility of all employees of the Trust that they fulfil a proactive role towards the management of risk in all of their actions. This entails the risk assessment of all situations, taking appropriate actions, and reporting all incidents, near misses, and hazards promptly.
