Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated individual to join our innovative Countywide Team. We are currently working toward UKAS accreditation and are extremely fortunate to have a Qualitive Improvement Lead from a UKAS accredited Audiology service working alongside us, sharing their wealth of paediatric expertise and knowledge of quality improvement methodology. If you have a good basis in paediatric knowledge and are interested in learning and developing new skills, we have opportunities available for further training and to get involved in quality improvement projects where you can make a real difference to our patients. All of this with the support of our dedicated team.

This opportunity is based at Kidderminster Hospital however frequent travel around the county is expected depending upon clinical need. This is a full time position 4 -5 days a week.

Worcestershire County Audiology provides services at Worcester, Kidderminster, Evesham and Redditch hospitals along with several peripheral sites. The service provides direct referral audiological assessments on adults and children of all ages, whilst supporting and referring onto ENT and other acute services. You will need to meet the requirements for RCCP/AHCS registration BSc(Hons) Audiology or equivalent and have at least 3 years experience working in NHS audiology. Previous experience working within a paediatric audiology service is essential.

Main duties of the job

You will need to be able to demonstrate competency across all clinical fields of Audiology including, diagnostic assessments of hearing loss, select and fit appropriate hearing aids, take aural impressions and reassess existing patients hearing and aid provision according to BSA protocols.

The successful candidate will also hold a BSc Hons Audiology or equivalent qualification and be registerable with the AHCS/ RCCP. The candidate will be working with our paediatric service users which will include babies and infants to older children and adults up to 18. Occasional Adult audiology cover may also be required.

Main duties include:

Direct referral from General Practitioners.

Community Audiology Clinics

ENT Clinics.

Hearing aid fittings and repairs RECD/REAR verifications.

Hearing aid service appointments.

Reassessment of hearing and upgrading/reprogramming hearing aids as necessary.

This post has been established to meet the needs of the local and specialist Adult and Children's Hearing Service for the County of Worcestershire. The post-holder will provide a wide range of routine, diagnostic and rehabilitative procedures to infants and children and occasionally adults. Including patients who may have complex additional needs i.e. patients who have mental health problems, disabilities and Tinnitus. Service delivery is provided by a range of healthcare scientists (including associate, specialist and advance-level practitioners as well as STP and PTP students), working in acute hospital and community settings. The post-holder will also be required to travel to cover clinics countywide dependant on the needs of the service.

To carry out all audiological duties, procedures and policies in accordance with BSA, BAA, RCCP and the Trust Policies and Procedures.

To dispense and maintain digital hearing aids, using MHAS guidelines and protocols to adults to include real ear measurement (REM)

To maintain community profession of audiological services that may include domiciliary visits.

To promote a patient focused approach to care and collaboration with all relevant health professionals.

Be prepared to commute around the main sites which include Kidderminster, Redditch and Worcester hospitals as well as smaller peripheral sites.
