Job summary
The Anaesthetic department provides services to three sites -
Worcestershire Royal Hospital (WRH), Alexandra Hospital Redditch (AHR), and
Kidderminster Treatment Centre (KTC), encompassing all major specialities with
a strong countywide working ethos. Recent surgical reconfiguration means most
elective surgery will be delivered on the Alexandra Hospital site, while the
majority of emergency, trauma and obstetric work will be on the WRH site. KTC
functions as a day-case and short-stay surgical unit. Applicants will be
required to contribute to the Theatres, Obstetric and WRH/Alex Intensive Care rotas.
Main duties of the job
The
post holder will join a friendly and supportive directorate. The post consists
of regular sessions in Theatres, Maternity, Critical Care or Pain. Sessions are
negotiable to meet the needs of the department but take into account the
applicants sub-specialty interests.
The
post-holder will participate in a 1 in 8 request rota for resident out of
hours work including prospective cover. The rota may include both the
Alexandra Hospital & Worcestershire Royal Hospital sites and may include
work in Theatres, Obstetrics and ICM. The
successful applicant is expected to work with the other resident on call team
members and on call Consultants to ensure that patients receive the highest
quality care.

The
post will be paid at 12 programmed activities (6.5 PAs towards the out of hours
work). The post-holder is expected to participate in on-going audit projects
and personal development. The timetable will include 1 programmed activity for
Supporting Professional Activity.

- A suitably experienced post-holder will be expected to provide an appropriate clinical service in the relevant specialty to patients of the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and to General Practitioners.
- The post-holder will be expected to provide a service to patients of the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, General Practitioners and to attend multi-disciplinary meetings.
