Main duties of the job
In this senior leadership role, you will deputise for the Chief Nursing Officer, providing expert guidance and support in all matters related to infection prevention and control, antimicrobial stewardship, and environmental risks. You will develop and sustain a high-quality, innovative IPC service, collaborating with senior IPC team members and colleagues across the Trust.
You will lead the design, development, and delivery of strategies to achieve national and local infection targets, ensuring safe and compliant standards for decontamination, antimicrobial stewardship, and outbreak management. Your role includes improving environmental cleanliness and managing risks such as water and ventilation safety.
As a visible and accessible clinical leader, you will build and motivate teams, ensuring IPC practices are integrated into care delivery. You will manage the IPC team, overseeing recruitment, training, and performance, and ensure robust assurance frameworks are in place to drive improvements in IPC practice.
Collaboration with external agencies, academic partners, and healthcare organizations is essential. You will lead the Trusts engagement with these stakeholders, ensuring alignment and sharing best practices. Operational responsibilities include preparing regular reports, managing IPC-related incidents, and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
