Job summary
Due to the retirement of the current post holder, a vacancy has arisen for a Countywide MDT Co-Ordinator
Assistant based at the Worcester Royal Hospital site. We are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to work closely
with and provide support to the MDT Co-Ordinators as part of the Countywide
cancer services team. This would be
ideal for someone who would like to gain more experience in the cancer field
and gain he knowledge and experience to become a Cancer Patient Tracker or MDT
Co-Ordinator.
Multidisciplinary
cancer teams (MDTs) have evolved over the last few years with the remit to
discuss and plan care for all patients with a diagnosis of cancer. The post-holder
will be expected to support the team with the collection of the relevant
pathology material for MDTs, import he relevant radiological material and ensure
all relevant proformas and agendas are printed ready for MDTs.
Main duties of the job
To assist and give
administrative support to the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) Co-ordinators
Find
and collate all patient MDT documentation, working to lists provided by the MDT
Co-ordinators in preparation for the MDT meetings.
Report
any outstanding patient information to the appropriate MDT Co-ordinator in a
timely manner.
Transfer
radiology reports into the MDT folders in time for the relevant MDT meetings.
Take
telephone messages in the absence of MDT Co-ordinators and add patients to the
required MDT agenda as and when required.
Carry
out any other general office duties as and when required.
Undertake
such other tasks as shall be prescribed by the Deputy Cancer Services
Manager/MDT Support Managers within the grade
and nature of the post.

JOB PURPOSE:
To assist and give
administrative support to the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) Co-ordinators by
ensuring that radiology reports are transferred into the relevant folder for
the MDT meetings, pathology reports and slides are made available for the MDT
meetings and ensure all appropriate proformas and agendas are printed and
sorted timely for the MDT meetings.
TRAINING &
DEVELOPMENT:
This is a training and
development in order to enhance to current MDT service and train the post
holder into a competent MDT Co-ordinator or a Cancer Patient Tracker:
Responsibility for the printing of the agendas/lists
for all MDT meetings
Ensure that all the relevant paperwork post MDT
is all returned/scanned appropriately
Find and collate all pathology material required
in preparation for the MDT meetings and return all materials used appropriately
post meeting
Pull
x-rays from the PACS system in time for the relevant MDT meetings.
Actively track faster diagnosis PTLs and
escalate any outstanding results letters to the relevant Directorate manager in
a timely manner
Prepare the colposcopy MDT.
Ensure all relevant paperwork is taken to
scanning promptly after each MDT meeting
DIMENSIONS:
The
post has no line management or budgetary responsibility. The department deals with cancer
multidisciplinary team meetings. The
post holder will be expected to use a number of information systems such as
pathology, patient administration systems, and Somerset Cancer Register. Also the post holder will be expected to work
with minimal direct supervision and be self-motivated.

Consultant Histopathologists, other hospitals within the Trust and Scanning
Departments for eZ notes, Cancer services team and the MDT Co-ordinators.

Working to tight deadlines can make the post stressful at times.
