Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust
is seeking to recruit a Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedics. Successful
candidates will join a team of 20 Consultants who provide elective and trauma
inpatient and outpatient services. The post will
have a special interest in foot and ankle surgery. The Directorate provides
services across 3 hospital sites within the county of Worcestershire. The
candidate will benefit from working within a friendly and experienced team.
As a Trust we are
actively involved in developing the training program for students from the
Three Counties Medical School based in Worcester which opens in September 2023.
We look forward to establishing links with the new Medical School in addition
to well-established relationships with the University of Birmingham and the University
of Warwick.

Main duties of the job
The Foot & Ankle service is dynamic and ambitious, and the new candidate will be expected to engage in and contribute to its improvement and expansion. We currently undertake all major foot and ankle surgery and joint replacements. We work constructively with the community musculoskeletal physiotherapy and podiatry services to filter referrals. We currently have a Specialist Foot & Ankle Practitioner and are looking to expand this area with more specialist practitioners to work alongside consultants in clinics and theatres. In conjunction with the community podiatrists, we offer a Rapid Access Diabetic Foot service and carry out reconstructive surgery for the diabetic foot and the new incumbent will be expected to participate in this.

- Full GMC Registration with a Licence to practise.
- Success in Intercollegiate Specialty Examination or overseas equivalent
Desirable
- Higher degree.
- Entry on Specialist Register in Trauma & Orthopaedics (or CCT expected within 6 months of interview date).
