ACONBURY 1 & 2 CARDIOLOGY & ACUTE RESPIRATORY UNIT (ARU)

WARD CLERK BAND 2

37.5 HRS PER WEEK

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to become an integral member of our ward based teams this is a dual role working 2 days per week - 15 hrs on the Acute Respiratory Unit and 3 days per week - 22.5 hrs on Aconbury 1 & 2 Cardiologyat Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

You will preferably have experience of working within a hospital environment. We require a motivated, enthusiastic individual with good communication skills and experience of dealing with members of the public. You should be well organized and able to work on your own initiative and prioritise your workload on a busy ward. Computer literacy and good keyboard skills are essential.

This post often involves being the first point of contact for patients, relatives and visitors and a calm, sensitive, friendly attitude is paramount. You will work as part of a caring and motivated team and be seen as a valued member of staff.

Main duties of the job

Full training will be given in all aspects of the role including the use of all data systems.

Job responsibilities

Keeping patients case notes in good order, filing all reports e.g. Path reports, X-rays, etc. and keeping Notes Trolley tidy.

Preparing case notes and X-rays for Doctors rounds, including obtaining outstanding or missing reports, etc.

Arranging special appointment with other departments and hospitals as required by Ward Sister.

Answering telephone and dealing with enquiries in accordance with instruction.

Assist with data collection for the computerised In-Patient Administration System of emergency admission; inter ward/inter-hospital transfer, discharges or deaths by informing Medical Records Department.

Completing maintenance requests.

Preparing routine requisitions e.g., stationery, dressings, hardware/crockery etc. and submitting them to Stores as appropriate, in conjunction with Ward Sister.

Preparing additional copies of Nurses Duty Rota.

Covering duties of other Ward Clerks during sickness, annual leave, etc.

To act as messenger on ward business, e.g. to X-ray, Pharmacy, Path Lab.
