Job summary
We are looking for an experienced Senior Medical Secretary for a challenging but rewarding position within the Trauma & Orthopaedic team. The role will be 25 hours per week, flexible working with hybrid working once established.

Main duties of the job
- Digital transcription of clinical correspondence including routine and urgent referrals
- Answering patient queries via telephone and email.
- Dealing with challenging situations and conversations with patients.
- Managing a waiting list in line with NHS targets.
Experience and skills in the following areas are essential:
- Holding or have healed a Senior Secretarial Position
- Medical Terminology Qualification
- High attention to detail
- Flexible and Reliable
- The post holder must have good inter-personal and organisational skills, be able to manage and prioritise a heavy workload and be able to work under pressure, both on their own and as part of a team.
- High level of computer skills are essential, including the use of Office packages.
- Excellent telephone manner
- Good knowledge and understanding of confidentiality
- Ability to use own initiative, whilst understanding your limitations and boundaries.

- Have a high attention to detail with high standards in all areas.
- The role requires you to be flexible within the role.
- You will be required to have good diary management skills as well as managing a waiting list including theatre scheduling, admissions and clinical requirements for surgery including pre-surgery management.
- You will need to have good organisational skills, be able to manage and prioritise a heavy workload and be able to work under pressure, both on your own or as part of a team.
- High competency of computer skills is required in a variety of programmes with excellent data input skills and understanding of confidentiality and processing of information
- Excellent telephone manner.
