Applications are being sought to join our Radiology Consultant body
at
Worcestershire
Acute Hospitals NHS Trust
Interventional
Radiology provide General, Vascular and Urology intervention services across
the Trust. The team currently delivers services from Worcestershire Royal
Hospital and the Alexandra Hospital, Redditch.
The post-holder will
be required to provide services cross-county and attend consultant, discrepancy
and audit meetings.
The post-holder will
be expected to deliver a high quality, timely service and to work towards
meeting the Trusts and departmental objectives.
The post-holder will
participate in the on-call rota 1:6 to ensure that both emergency and urgent
services are provided out of normal hours, to be shared equally with consultant
colleagues in post.
To facilitate and
perform effective quality assurance and audit and to ensure that services
comply with national standards and guidance.
The post-holder will take part in departmental, governance meetings as
required and IR meetings, in addition, to undertaking individual audits on a
yearly basis.
The
post-holder will participate in regular clinical meetings and maintain
continuing medical education in accordance with the requirements of the
relevant Royal College and General Medical Council. The Post-holder will ensure their own
clinical practice is up to date

Main duties of the job
A suitably
experienced post-holder will be expected to provide a clinical service in the
relevant specialty to patients of the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and to General Practitioners.
The post-holder will
attend cross-county
and cross-site meetings.
To collaborate with
colleagues to deliver a high
quality, timely service and to work towards meeting the Trusts and departmental objectives.
The post-holder,
whilst undertaking weekend on call duties, will attend the hospital to undertake patient reviews.
The post-holder will
join the team of interventional radiologists providing countywide services for
the Trust.
In addition,
subspecialty interests are encouraged and will be accommodated within the remit
of wider team job planning.
Posts may include some or all of the following:
Attendance at the
vascular MDT and one or more diagnostic Multi-Disciplinary Team meeting.
In-hours diagnostic
reporting sessions, with the availability of home reporting if desired.
Sub-specialty
imaging or reporting sessions- MRI, ultrasound, CT etc.
Participation in the
out of hours duty rota for interventional radiology on a 1 in 6 basis.
The total PA
allocation to the out of hours duty roster is 1.5 PA- (1PA predictable and
0.5PA unpredictable on call).

Job responsibilities
The post-holder will
provide interventional radiology services to in-patients and out-patients of
the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. The successful candidate will
work within multi-disciplinary teams to provide high quality clinical care.
Attendance at the vascular MDT and one or more diagnostic
Multi-Disciplinary Team meeting.

undertaken on two sites with the option of home working if required in
accordance to the services required by the Trust.
Direct Clinical Care:
8.5 PAs on average per
week (includes clinical activity, clinically related activity, predictable
& unpredictable emergency work).
Cross-site travel and
clinical administration time is included in each session of DCC.
Supporting Professional
Activities:
1.5 SPAs per week to support your personal CPD and revalidation
related activities.
Although 1 SPA is the minimum required amount for revalidation
as agreed by the AMRC, 1.5 SPA is provided during the first year and additional
PA allocations are provided for leadership roles (clinical lead 1 PA),
educational supervision (0.25 PA per trainee), governance roles (0.25 PA for
audit, NICE or governance/mortality leads), appraiser role (0.25 PA for trained
appraisers) or other pre-agreed additional activities. After 1 year the SPA
allocation will be reviewed in line with requirements for revalidation and
additional roles.
Please
note that although the Job Description states 1.5 SPA for new consultants
moving down to 1 SPA after the first year, this is now incorrect and current
trust guidance is for all consultants to receive 2PA SPA to allow full
participation in educational, academic, governance and leadership
activities
