A unique and
exciting opportunity has arisen at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Trust. We
have embarked on a three-year partnership with the internationally renowned
Virginia Mason Institute to support us on our Continuous Improvement journey
with implementing our own 4Ward improvement system.
The successful post
holder will join our expanding Improvement Team and will work with our staff
across the Trust to help foster a culture of continuous improvement, by
providing training, coaching and supporting improvement events where we help to
empower our staff to improve their own work which will improve the experience
for both our patients and staff.

Main duties of the job
Lead delegated activities to ensure the development and implementation of the Trusts single improvement methodology and associated trust-wide programme of work and in doing so engage with clinical and non-clinical staff across operational and corporate divisions.
Have lead responsibility for the development and delivery of allocated trust-wide value streams (large scale improvement initiatives) that address defined organisational priorities.
Undertake data collection and analysis to support value stream work and to enable assessment of whether intended benefits have been realised.
Develop technical skills in the Virginia Mason Production System (VMPS) and achieve associated accreditation in order to be recognised as a (VMPS) expert within the organisation.
Develop and deliver training programmes to clinical and non-clinical staff at all levels.

This role supports the Improvement Director in the implementation and delivery of the Trusts single improvement methodology and associated transformation. This is a Trust-wide programme of work which is being supported by the Virginia Mason Institute.
The purpose of the role is to work across the Trust and beyond leading on
i) development of complex value streams (large scale improvement initiatives) which will deliver sustainable improvement, organisational and cultural change;
ii) development and delivery of expert education and training of staff at all levels of the organisation (and the health and social care system where relevant) in using the single improvement methodology.
Responsible for leading on a portfolio of work to ensure the implementation of the single improvement methodology across the Trust (and ICS, where relevant), and identification of measurable improvements in quality, patient and staff experience, safety, operations, workforce and finance.
To advise, lead and coach clinical and non-clinical teams to deliver service improvements through best practice service improvement and re-design.
Responsible for working in partnership with and under the guidance of the Virginia Mason Institute to develop and deliver a Trust-wide education and training programme on improvement methodologies at all levels of the organisation (including training for Board and, where relevant, system partners).
Provide expert advice to clinical and non-clinical staff at all levels on improvement methodologies, tools and techniques that will enable quality, financial and service improvement and identification and realisation of business benefits/return on investment.
Advise, lead and coach leaders and managers to successfully introduce and embed improvement initiatives in a sustainable way.
Develop and maintain comprehensive improvement databases, information systems and website of good practice, tools and methodologies and benchmarking data.
To be an effective and respected agent of change and in being so, build the reputation of the Improvement Team by building mutually respectful internal and external relationships and demonstrating positive leadership behaviours and by forging positive working relationships.
Take direct line management or matrix management responsibility for improvement staff as allocated.
