Would you like to work in Paediatric Diabetes and Diabetes Structured Education?
An exciting opportunity for a motivated Band 5 or 6 dietitian to develop a career in Diabetes in Worcestershire. It is a new full-time post, with 0.6 WTE in Paediatric Diabetes and 0.4 WTE in Adult Diabetes Structured Education, providing dietetic service for families and young people with diabetes from diagnosis to transition to adult services and delivering Nationally recognised Diabetes Structured Education programs to adults, including X-PERT Diabetes, Carbohydrate counting and DAFNE.
The Paediatric Diabetes Service is delivered in clinics in Worcester, Redditch and Kidderminster and groups in different community settings and virtually providing flexibility for some sessions working from home, if convenient and opportunities to take part in fun activities, like Diabetes Activity Weekend and other social events. The Adult Diabetes Structured Education sessions are delivered either virtually or face to face, with flexibility to deliver virtual sessions from home, if it is convenient.
Former experience in paediatric diabetes or structured education is not essential and we offer clinical supervision, training and CPD in paediatric diabetes and training to deliver X-PERT Diabetes and DAFNE. Further support and CPD provided by our Dietetic Department of 22 dietitians in specialty teams and approved for student A, B and C placements.
Main duties of the job
- To work as an experienced autonomous practitioner and provide a high standard of patient focused care through specialised assessment.
- To plan and deliver a high quality service to patients working in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team.
- To offer dietetic skills and expertise to paediatric diabetic patients, 22.5 hours a week.
- To deliver diabetes structured education programmes for adults with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, 15 hours a week.
- To contribute to the Therapy Clinical Governance agenda to further improve the quality of the service.
