Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for a Maxillofacial
Prosthetist / Reconstructive Scientist to join our Maxillofacial and Dental
Laboratory team. This is a developmental post to support a suitable candidate's
professional development from a band 7 position to a band 8a. The role is
designed to support this progression over a minimum, two-year period, and it
will be essential for the candidate to meet targets necessary for the band 8a
role.
Working as part of the MDT across multiple hospital
sites, the successful candidate will provide clinical, technical, advisory and
scientific support to both patients and surgical colleagues.
The department is well positioned for service
development and the successful candidate will be integral in the process.
Main duties of the job
To deliver clinical and technical service to
patients undergoing reconstructive procedures or rehabilitation using implants,
guides, splints and prostheses
To support and contribute to tasks which support the
departments Quality Management System
To support and contribute to tasks which support the
departments COSHH
To participate in stock control and ordering of
departmental consumables
To participate in teaching for the departments
training programme
To support the Consultant Maxillofacial Prosthetist as required

Qualifications
Essential
- MSc in Reconstructive Science or MSc in Maxillofacial Prosthetic Rehabilitation or University Professional Diploma in Maxillofacial Prosthetics and Technology with additional 2 year vocational training period
- Full membership of the Institute of Maxillofacial Prosthetists and Technologists (IMPT), or full membership pending
- BSc in Dental Technology or equivalent
- GDC registered as Dental Technician and/or HCPC registered Clinical Scientist
Experience
Essential
- 3 years experience as a trainee MPT in an accredited (AHCS) training unit
- Experience across full range of work procedures pertaining to Maxillofacial Prosthetics / Reconstructive Science
Desirable
- Experience of Orthodontics and Dental Prosthetics
- Knowledge of CAD/CAM, virtual planning and scanning equipment
- Experience of recent research activity, original research and innovation, publication in peer review journals
- Evidence of scientific presentations at regional meetings or conferences
