Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Clinical Dental Technician to join our Maxillofacial and Dental Laboratory team. Working both independently and as part of a team, you will be supporting our restorative clinical staff in providing high quality, complex dental prostheses. The role requires a flexible approach to working as the Trust operates from three hospital sites.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will lead the laboratory Dental Prosthetic Service and be responsible for liaising with the MDT to coordinate patient treatment plans. The successful candidate will be required to produce a range of complex intra-oral prostheses - to include implant retained - for patients with complex needs.

  • * High degree of precision and concentration in the manufacturing of appliances and prostheses
  • * Knowledge of relevant material science, use of biocompatible materials, chemistry and toxicology applicable to intra-oral prosthetics

  • * Familiarity with presentation/applications technology
  • * Familiarity with CAD/CAM within the scope of Clinical Dental Technology

  • * Post grad Diploma in Clinical Dental Technology including final exams with RCS
  • * BSc in Dental Technology or FdSc in Dental Technology with equivalent experience
  • * Certificate in Intra-Oral Impression Taking
  • * GDC registered Clinical Dental Technician

Experience

  • * Clinical Dental Technology experience in a hospital setting (oral and maxillofacial surgery) - minimum 4 years
  • * Dental and orthodontic appliance production in a hospital setting - minimum 9 years
  • * Highly developed specialist knowledge across range of work procedures
