Job summary
We are looking for catering assistant for our Weekday Evening shift working 4hrs between 16:45-20:45 Monday to Friday, who is able to work as part of a team to deliver a quality service as directed by policies and procedures which are monitored by Supervisory Staff. Your workload will include the provision of a safe and hygienic environment for the service of meals to patients, staff and visitors, working in the central dishwasher area and delivery of meals at ward level. Working as part of the Catering Team, assisting in all aspects of the service including wash-up and cleaning duties related to the provision of our high quality catering service to patients.
Main duties of the job
The main duties include the following:
- Setting up and preparation of supper trolleys
- Preparation of items for the following days breakfast
- Delivery of any ad hoc meals as ordered by the wards
- Answering of telephone calls and responding to as required
- You will be responsible for the service of supper meals to a minimum of one ward using a pre-populated menu card
- You will be responsible for the collection of all trays, crockery and cutlery from the wards ensuring all equipment is returned to the department
- Along with your team of colleagues you will clear, clean and put away all equipment from the supper lunch service using an industrial dishwasher for the part of the cleaning process
- You will be responsible for the hygienic cleaning of the department along with your team members ready for the next shift
- You must be able to communicate with multi-disciplinary staff and make informed decisions at point of service and within the department.
