Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen from NHS England funding for a Band 7 Neonatal Dietitian to join our Paediatric team at Worcestershire Royal Hospital. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic paediatric dietitian with good leadership skills to work closely with the Neonatal MDT and the neonatal AHPs, developing guidelines and enhancing service delivery. The post holder will lead the specialist Nutrition and Dietetic Service on the Neonatal Unit with support from the SWMODN Dietitian and Lead Paediatric Dietitian. The post holder will also be part of the paediatric team and providing training and supporting junior staff .

Main duties of the job

To act as an expert autonomous Dietitian to plan, develop and contribute to the delivery and service improvement of the Neonatal Dietetic service provided to Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Trust.

To be responsible for the planning and delivery of a dietetic service to the neonatal unit.

To obtain advanced practitioner skills e.g. parenteral nutrition prescription, specialist lactation support. Work alongside therapy colleagues, the wider MDT and the Lead Dietitian in the West Midlands Neonatal Operational Delivery Network (WMNODN) to support the development, implementation and audit of nutrition and nutrition related protocols.

To act as the lead neonatal dietetic specialist working with the MDT to deliver a high quality service to babies, parents and carers, managing staff and resources on a day to day basis ensuring the delivery of a consistently excellent service to patients and those who care for them.

To contribute to the Therapy Clinical Governance agenda to further improve the quality of the neonatal service and ensure it is included in the strategic development of services

To supervise and develop more junior staff.

To take a leading role in carrying out specialist assessments, evidence-based treatment and management of paediatric patients who may present with complex and /or chronic health needs that require specialist support and advice.

To be recognised as an expert source of knowledge in the field of paediatrics, leading on development of clinical guidelines, resources and education packages.

Provide education and support in the nutritional management of paediatric patients to parents, carers and the wider MDT.

To support the wider Dietetic team during periods of increased demand and play an active role in the supervision and learning of others, including student placements.
