Ward Manager - Aconbury 1 & 2 Cardiology

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated nurse with experience to lead our busy Cardiology unit in the high dependency care of cardiac medical patients.

Aconbury 1 & 2 is an acute cardiology unit comprising 20 beds providing step down care and monitoring, 10 CCU beds providing level 2 care, to complex cardiac patients including those requiring CPAP, inotropic support and IABP therapy and a Cardiology Day Case. We also have established specialist nurses who work closely with the team that are based within the ward.

You will be a highly motivated and forward thinking professional who can demonstrate the ability to lead and support staff in a proactive way. Candidates should have recent acute cardiology experience (or equivalent) and a post registration qualification in Cardiac Care, High dependency or Critical care nursing alongside a mentorship qualification. Main duties of the job

- To ensure a high standard of nursing care at all times through the effective management of staff and resources on his / her allocated department.

- To demonstrate strong clinical leadership in stressful and challenging situations. To promote a positive approach to new challenges and creative ways of working.

- To act as advocate for their designated area and liaise with all members of the multi-disciplinary team to co-ordinate all aspects of patient care in the best interests of the patient and family.

-To ensure effective training and educational programmes are available by liaising with appropriate personnel to meet the training and educational needs of nurses in the clinical area. This post carries continuing responsibility for the management of the Ward, including the deployment and supervision of staff.

- Accept personal responsibility and accountability for your infection prevention and control practice. Ensure that you are familiar with, and comply with, all relevant policies. Ensure that you receive mandatory updates in infection control.
