We are excited to announce that at Worcestershire Acute
Hospitals NHS Trust, the Occupational Therapy Service has developed a NEW Band 6 Rotational Programme
Our Band 6 Senior Occupational Therapists play a crucial
role in our organisation. They are viewed within the OT service as potential
clinical leaders who will receive investment and support to become the best
clinicians that they can. We have taken the time to look at which exciting clinical services
we have to offer that can host these rotations and will develop the new Band 6
post holders using our Novice to Expert
career framework
This is a framework which has been specifically designed to
recognise that staff new to Band 6 roles will need a period of consolidation. It offers a clear demarcation between the
expectations for a novice Band 6 OT and someone who is meeting the expectations
and carrying responsibilities of an experienced Band 6 OT.
You will be working with, and supported by, a very
experienced skilled workforce. These include our Clinical Strategic Lead OTs
and Clinical Specialists
Our service also has a Clinical Practice & Education
Lead who will work with our Band 6 clinicians, developing robust training and
development
The aim of this multiple rotational programme will be to
provide excellent learning opportunities. You will also be supported to attend the
following training

provides a strong clinical reasoning and decision framework
- Coaching
- Mentoring

Main duties of the job
These will be 12
month Rotations, based at Worcestershire
Royal Hospital and will offer clinical experience in the following areas:
- Specialty
Medicine You will develop a clinical portfolio that evidences a high level
of acute illness management; manual handling assessment and management;
extensive equipment knowledge and provision; cognitive assessment and
application to occupational performance; end of life and palliative care management,
as well as complex discharge management.
- Stroke
& Neurology - You will develop specialist skills knowledge and experience of
hyper acute and acute stroke, complex care, and outpatient stroke and
neurology. This will also include
experience in Critical Care.
- Trauma
You will deliver modernised Occupational Therapy, focusing on
providing acute assessments of Trauma patients. This involves a variety of
upper and lower limb fractures, traumatic head injury and poly trauma cases.

Geriatric Emergency Medicine Service
You will be provided with experience in the assessment and management of older
adults with complex needs such as dementia and Parkinsons Disease management;
complex manual handling needs; palliative and end of life care and Frailty. You will develop a working knowledge of the
Mental Capacity Act to support the patients decision-making skills. This will
be an essential part of this role in order to meet the complex nature of the
caseload. There will also be the
opportunity to work in urgent care.
