Job summary
We are delighted to offer the opportunity for an
enthusiastic colleague to join our team as a substantive consultant in
Cardiology with a sub-speciality interest in pacing.
This is a full-time post replacing a locum position,
delivering general cardiology care and bradycardia pacing procedures and
management to the population of Worcestershire. Additional interests, including
complex devices or other sub-specialities can be incorporated.
The post will be based alongside 3 existing Device
specialists at Worcestershire Royal Hospital and 14 cardiologists cross county.
Our priority is always to recruit colleagues who will enjoy working
collaboratively in this ambitious, friendly and expanding team. The working
week includes a day in the pacing theatre with the opportunity for a further
day undertaking complex procedures. You will contribute to in patient care as
part of the Consultant of the Week rota on both the Alexandra Hospital Redditch
sites and in our new coronary care unit and purpose built ward with integrated
day case facility. On call commitment will predominantly be weekend duties at
Redditch with some on call weekends at Worcester.

Main duties of the job
A suitably
experienced post-holder will be expected to provide a clinical service in the
Cardiology specialty to patients of the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and to General Practitioners.
The successful candidate will be expected to work within
multi-disciplinary teams in providing high quality clinical care. It is
anticipated work will be undertaken on three sites and closer to the patients home. The Trust is seeking to
extend services to GP surgeries/health centres etc and job plans may be revised
in due course.
The post-holder will
provide support to the A&E department and acute medicine to ensure timely appropriate care and patient flow
through the hospital.
The post-holder will
attend cross county and cross site
meetings.
The post-holder
will, if relevant, participate in the on call rota to ensure that both
emergency and urgent services are
provided out of normal hours, to be
shared equally with Consultant colleagues in post.
The post-holder,
whilst undertaking weekend on call duties, will attend the hospital to undertake patient reviews. The post-holder will
participate in regular clinical meetings, post-graduate activities and maintain
continuing medical education in accordance with the requirements of the
relevant Royal College and General Medical Council. The Post-holder will ensure their own
practice is up to date and they support the principles of revalidation by the
GMC.
