supporting the ACUTE TRAUMA TEAM AT WORCESTER
ROYAL HOSPITAL.
This post supports our vision of a highly skilled,
experienced, dynamic and flexible workforce that has knowledge and skills in
delivering modernised Occupational Therapy, focusing on providing acute assessments
of Trauma patients; this involves a variety of upper and lower limb fractures,
traumatic head injury and poly trauma cases. The variety of assessments
facilitates compliance of post-surgery guidelines and to maximise functional
independence. There is opportunity to specialist clinical reasoning and practice
in this area and the post allows
opportunities to engage in teaching and learning with experienced staff to
develop both clinical and leadership skills.

This post will allow us to play an essential role through creative
leadership and practice, by delivering modernised Occupational Therapy and
developing solutions for effective patient flow.
Within the Trauma unit you will be working with
and supported and developed by a Band 7
Clinical Specialist and 8a Trauma and Orthopaedic Clinical Strategic OT Lead. They will provide you with expert advice on patients with any complex issues and developing sound clinical practice.
Main duties of the job
To
provide Occupational Therapy assessment, treatment and discharge planning to
patients within the acute service with a special emphasis on patients within
the trauma and orthopaedics directorate, this will include working within tight timeframes for
patient discharges.
To
provide guidance and supervision to less experienced staff and students.
To
take a proactive role within the Occupational Therapy team, with the ability to
provide advice or cover on other Trust sites as required.
To
liaise with senior Occupational Therapists to ensure the smooth and effective
running of the Occupational Therapy service at an operational level on a daily
basis.
You
will gain mentorship and support from the Occupational Therapy Clinical Lead
and Clinical Specialist, especially those within Trauma and Orthopaedics.
