An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 staff nurse to join our team at 439 Ipswich Road, an assessment, rehabilitation and recovery service. This is a 24hr NHS Inpatient facility offering a Trust-wide age inclusive service for male and female patients suffering from severe and enduring mental health problems.

This qualified multidisciplinary specialist service is primarily aimed at service users with complex needs and provides a bridge between a hospital and community setting. It is able to offer the flexibility and responsiveness required to offer containment of risks whilst helping people to work on making choices and taking back personal responsibilities.

Service users typically have complex risk histories, issues of institutionalisation from long admissions and high levels of vulnerability.

You will provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care in an inpatient setting, taking responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individual care plans. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will ensure care is person-centred and responsive to patient needs.

This role involves close collaboration with service users, carers, clinicians, and partner organisations, and requires participation in a 24/7 shift rota, including weekends and bank holidays.

  • Ensure effective communication with clients, carers, visitors and staff. Make effective use of evidence based practice in day to day clinical practice.
  • Implement and ensure effective use of the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act where necessary. Represent nursing team and provide reports for Manager's Hearings and Mental Health Act Tribunals.
  • Ensure safe standards apply to the administration of medication.
  • Support colleagues in interventions relating to the management of violence and aggression, including de-escalation techniques and the use of physical intervention (DC&R techniques) as necessary.
