Job summary
An exciting opportunity to work with people who are at risk of developing psychosis in the North East At Risk Mental State (ARMS) team. The team provides psychological interventions to young people (14-35 years old) with a view to preventing a transition to psychosis. The role is based in North East Essex, working across the Colchester and Tendring areas.
The successful candidate will join the service at an exciting time as we have recently launched. You will be joining a small team which sits under the umbrella of a larger Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) team.
As an Assistant Psychologist, you would work to support and enhance the clinical and psychological care of clients. There will be the opportunity for assisting in individual, family and group interventions, consultation, and staff training under the supervision of a Clinical Psychologist.
You will also play a key role in clinically related administration, such as booking clinics, audits and service evaluations. There is scope for development of clinical research projects, teaching and project work.

Main duties of the job
The role of the Assistant Psychologist is to assist with a varied range of tasks. You will support and enhance the professional psychological care of adults and young people who are at risk of psychosis, supporting psychological assessment and interventions under the supervision of a Clinical psychologist, according to a plan agreed within the overall framework of the Trust's policies and procedures. This will be through both direct and indirect work.
Depending on experience, the responsibilities of the job will involve assisting in completing complex assessments, (including structured interviews and psychometrics) and communicating the outcome of these to clients, team colleagues and other professionals. It will involve delivering individual or group interventions for clients and/or their loved ones, and supporting service-user involvement or carer groups. It will involve supporting a range of wider projects in collaboration with service users, community organisations, education providers and mental health colleagues across a range of services. You will offer support to the wider psychological team in organisational tasks, audits and service evaluation.
Supervision will be provided by a Clinical Psychologist. There will be opportunities for continuing professional development, including attendance at training events and team case discussions.
