Job summary
The Essex Perinatal Mental Health Service has successfully established a new specialist service in the community over the last seven years.
This is an exciting opportunity for Band 4 Nursery Nurses to join our dedicated and growing team of experts in this field.
The service operates from five hubs across north and south Essex and the current vacancy is with the NE Hub based within Colchester.
The post holders will introduce Nursery Nurse expertise and interventions to the delivery of specialist community perinatal mental health care to women across Essex and will play an exciting role in shaping how the role benefit women and their families. It is also an opportunity to be part of service development to improve delivery of care and clinical practice working within the multi-disciplinary team framework together with our Perinatal Leadership Team, Practitioners, Perinatal Psychology workforce, Perinatal Consultant Psychiatrists, Support workers, Social workers and Occupational Therapist.
Successful candidates will need to demonstrate experience of working with mums with mental health difficulties together with sound child safeguarding practice. Good communication, collaborative partnership working, time management and planning skills are essential.
Ability to travel is essential and so candidates must hold a valid driving Licence and daily use of a vehicle.
Main duties of the job
- To work as a member of the Perinatal Mental Health Service, assisting in the provision of interventions to meet the needs of the infants of those women receiving our specialist service. Promoting and supporting the health of the woman and her infant and her family.
- To provide an effective and supportive nursery nurse service to women in the antenatal and postnatal period, within a perinatal mental health setting.
- Support parents and other Perinatal Mental Health Service clinician's to ensure the emotional and practical care of infants and to monitor developmental progress.
- To ensure that there is a caring and stimulating environment for infants or children in their home environment.
- To work in partnership with families and the wider community nursing teams e.g. Midwives, Health Visitors, Community staff nurses, Community Nursery Nurses. Working with parents in their homes in a supportive role to aid them in their journey to recovery
