Job summary
EPUT is looking to appoint a compassionate Specialty Doctor who will provide consistent, high quality Medical input support to the Adult Community team at Knightswick Centre, Canvey Island.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to work independently and provide clinical leadership to the team, through good multi-professional working. The post holder will have shared responsibility for the clinical care of those patients referred to the team and will be expected to work closely with the consultant and team manager to ensure the provision of an effective service to the patients in community.
You should be eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold Section 12 (2) approval under the Mental Health Act 1983. You will also need to provide evidence of achievement of ST1/CT1 competences in psychiatry at time of application and likelihood of achieving CT2 competences in psychiatry by the start date of the post.

Job responsibilities
- Reviewing patients independently at scheduled outpatient clinics and writing outpatient letters to the GPs.
- Offering domiciliary visits when required.
- Offering emergency reviews of disturbed patients as and when required.
- Regular participation in the weekly MDT meeting and CPA meetings. Taking a leading role in the multi professional team and supporting the other professionals at the team as part of a multi professional team working.
- Supervising the trainee doctors at the Knightswick team during their clinical tasks including correcting their GP letters.
- Preparing tribunal reports for mental health act tribunals for CTO patients under consultant supervision and present cases to the tribunal.
- Participation in auditsand other a quality improvement activities.
- Participation in the trust internal education programme.
