Job overview
To assist in the provision of nursing care (psychological, spiritual and sociological as well as physical), to patients in hospital as a member of the proactive nursing team. Direct care will be delivered to patients suffering a range of problems including: dementia / confusion, falls / fractures, heart and respiratory conditions as well as palliative and terminal care. To have the ability to recognise and report any changes in a patient's condition and needs.
Main duties of the job
Clinical/Professional Duties
- At the direction of the Registered Nurse, participate fully in the delivery of planned nursing care, using a wide range of clinical skills.
- Provide reassurance and support to patients, carers/family.
Patient/Client Care
- Involve patients and carers/relatives in delivery of patient care.
- Provide escorts for patients and undertake transfer of patients as directed.
Communication Skills
- Work collaboratively with others in the ward to ensure the patients' needs are met
