An opportunity has arisen for qualified Clinical Associates in Psychology (CAPs) to join the 18-25s Psychological Therapies Service. We have 2.38 Whole Time Equivalent posts newly funded. This means we can be flexible around working hours if part time work would suit you best.
The 18-25s Psychology Service has been developed to addresses a gap in current provision, providing a specialist psychology service to young adults. This post is based across the Colchester and Tendring areas of North East Essex.
If you would like to make a real difference to young adults' lives by developing and providing early specialist treatment, we would like to hear from you. We welcome applications from both qualified CAPs, and those who are at the end of their CAP training.
Candidates must have completed, or be near to completing, a Clinical Associate in Psychology (CAP) Master's training programme.
Main duties of the job
Clinical Associates in Psychology fill an identified skills gap between assistant psychologists and qualified psychologists. They are able to practice autonomously with appropriate support, working within their scope of practice, under the supervision of a registered clinical psychologist.
The post holder will work alongside qualified Psychologists, together with the wider network of Primary Care and MDT colleagues to provide a high quality Psychology service to service users. This will require the development and provision of a psychoeducational programme, assisting young adults in the transition from CAMHS to their management within Primary Care, and monitoring and evaluation of this. The post will include some individual work. The service is responsible for ensuring early intervention through collaborative working with Primary Care colleagues, employment, education and other system partners, supporting early diagnosis and management of young adults, including those who may go on to be diagnosed with a Personality Disorder.
The successful applicant will join our professional and friendly team of psychologists and psychological therapists working in Adult Community Mental Health Services in North East Essex . The services cover a broad geographical area with bases in Colchester, Clacton and Harwich.

- Be capable of making judgements about the needs of individuals, the identification of potential risks, and the possible requirement for more specialist assessment and treatment.

- Use assessment measures including established psychometric measures, systematic observation and measurement of emotional state, cognitions and behaviour in a variety of settings, including self-motivating strategies for clients.
- On the basis of information collated during assessment, provide a formulation for presenting problems that describes their aetiology, maintenance and appropriate methods of intervention.
- Evaluate their own clinical practice whilst working with individuals or groups and participate in regular supervision with the designated Clinical Psychologist..
