This is an exciting opportunity to join our therapy-focused and growing team, working across community and day care (Eating Disorder Intensive Community Treatment Unit, EDICT) services. Main duties of the job
Your role is to identify and provide therapeutic interventions and strategies that support change, motivate and enable a person to be functionally independent, empowered and in control of their own life.
This post will help to further develop your supervisory skills, as you will provide supervision to more junior OT staff. Within the day service you will be leading on OT assessments and treatment planning, and supervising the implementation of these treatment plans. Interventions are currently provided in a hybrid manner (online and face-to-face) and in collaboration with our sister team in the south of the Trust. You will also support patients within the community.
The post holder will be supported by the Team Manager and Lead Occupational Therapist and will work closely with community and in-patient Mental Health Services as well as a broad range of third sector agencies.
This post will offer varied Occupational Therapy as well as specific eating disorders training opportunities and we would very much support you to develop in the role. Eating disorder experience is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided.

There is considerable current focus on and investment in eating disorders services, as supported by the Mental Health Investment Standard, providing the team with an exciting opportunity to transform the eating disorders service and this is part of a national vision, with many initiatives and much support within the East of England region. The vision for the service is for the pathways to integrate across in-patients and community and for staff to work across them all. In addition, we are closely aligned with the Specialist Eating Disorder Unit (SEDU) beds within the Provider Collaborative in region.

- To provide specialist recovery-focussed OT assessments, interventions and formulation for patients referred to the Day Unit (EDICT) and community team.
- To apply a variety of treatment modalities to meet the needs of patients in individual or group format, utilising clinical reasoning processes to determine the most appropriate setting for intervention with specific reference to activities of daily living as they are impacted by eating disorders.
- Collaborate in the delivery of a group therapy programme and modification of aspects of the environment to empower and facilitate optimal functional performance.
- To undertake treatment planning, communicating and negotiating treatment plans, review and liaise with formal agencies and extended support networks (where appropriate).
- To communicate agreed treatment/care plans to multi-disciplinary team.
- Monitor physical and psychological health and well-being of patients and communicate with MDT colleagues and partnership agencies.

- You will exchange complex sensitive information with patients and assess their response to activities in accordance with agreed models of practice.
