A new vacancy has arisen for a Principal Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to join and lead a multidisciplinary team (MDT) in a new ground-breaking community service in partnership with Social Care. We will be piloting a multidisciplinary Complex Care service in Grays (Essex) for service-users in social housing with complex needs including severe and enduring mental illness, personality disorder and substance misuse. A bespoke engagement approach will be developed to facilitate increased willingness and understanding with the aim of addressing service-users' mental health difficulties and helping them to achieve outcomes that impact on their general wellbeing. Clinical and management supervision will be provided within Psychological Services. The post-holder will lead the MDT which will comprise a Specialist Mental Health Housing Officer, a Local Area Coordinator, a Social Worker (AMPH) and a Dual Diagnosis Practitioner.
Whilst the pilot will last one year, this post is being offered on a substantive basis. Should the pilot not proceed to a permanent service, the post-holder will be redeployed to another service within Psychological Services in EPUT.

Main duties of the job
- To provide a high quality specialist psychology service to clients referred to the team.
- To lead in the supervision of other psychologists and other clinical members of the team who provide psychologically based care and treatment.
- To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the governance of psychological practice within the team.
- To utilise research skills for audit, policy, service development and research.
- To propose and implement policy changes within the area serviced by the team/service.
- To represent Adult Community Psychological Services in strategy meetings to support service development and delivery.
- To deputise for the Head of Adult Community Psychological Services as required.
