Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Community Paediatric Physiotherapy team at Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust. Two full-time Band 6 Senior Paediatric Physiotherapy posts has become available. This will involve working within a friendly, progressive and established team which sees children from 0-19 years in homes, clinics, nurseries and schools. We provide high quality, family-centred care to children and young people within the boroughs of Castlepoint, Rochford and Southend-on-Sea. We are based at the Lighthouse Child Development Centre, Snakes Lane, Eastwood, Southend-on-Sea, SS2 6XT.

Main duties of the job

You will have the opportunity to manage a paediatric caseload within the paediatric therapy teams. You will apply your clinical skills in delivering hands-on physiotherapy, thereby ensuring the provision of a high standard of assessment, treatment and advice to a manageable caseload of children, young people and their families. You will carry a caseload of children aged 0-19 years and be responsible for clinics, providing services to children within the community, early intervention and functional improvement. This will include joint working with the multi-disciplinary team internally and externally.

You should have experience of working with children and young people and be able to demonstrate the transferable skills to all age groups. You will need to demonstrate you are able to complete paediatric assessments and interventions, able to prioritise your workload and time, and support others to do the same. Good communication skills are essential, as you will be working independently and alongside other health and social care professionals; supervising band 5s, assistants and students.

  • oRecognised Physiotherapy degree qualification or equivalent.
  • oRelevant CPD
  • Experience of supervising and supporting eg other B5 AHP, students and therapy assistants
  • oTo manage issues and concerns related to staff performance and conduct in line with Trust Policies and Procedures
  • oBroad range of therapy/rehabilitation experience at Band 5 in all core areas: neurology, orthopaedics and respiratory
  • oAbility to travel independently across sites and across Trust boundaries to attend meeting/training, etc. as required.

Desirable

  • oMembership of CSP or equivalent.
  • oMembership of specialist group eg APCP
  • oKnowledge of current national policies such as NICE relevant to role.
  • oExperience of working with children with chronic conditions and complex co- morbidities.
