Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative and compassionate Arts psychotherapist to join our Psychological Services. We are excited to broaden our psychological services offer to include Arts psychotherapies (Art, Music, Drama, Drama and Movement Psychotherapy) provision for older people in inpatient settings in South Essex.

The post will part of existing psychological service provision in the inpatient and community settings. The post holder be working autonomously to provide Arts psychotherapy service within an area of practice with multi-disciplinary colleagues on the wards (one acute mental health and the other specifically to support clients with dementia). The post holder will be joining two experienced multi-professional teams focused on delivering a quality service for adults with diagnoses of dementia and acute mental health needs and their carers/families. Where appropriate, the post holder will continue to work with service users in the community to comprehensively support their recovery post discharge from the wards.

The post holder will receive specialist clinical supervision and link in with colleagues working in acute and community settings within the Trust.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a highly motivated and committed colleague to develop a new and exciting psychotherapy offer that differs from current provision available to older people in South Essex.This post offers you diversity in clinical practice, supporting and enabling your professional development. You will provide individual and group arts psychotherapy for older people with complex mental health needs and adults with dementia in the inpatient wards You will enable service-users' transition back home and into community services through the continuous provision of the arts psychotherapy interventions as appropriate and agreed with the multi-disciplinary teams. You will work collaboratively with our multi-disciplinary teams (including attending MDT meetings) and develop referral pathways and work with psychologists on the ward to support development of a trauma-informed therapeutic environment. Clinical research, teaching and specialised interests are actively encouraged and you will have opportunities to contribute to service improvement and develop your clinical leadership skills.
