We are looking for an 8a Paediatric Clinical Psychologist post in a well established service in the South Essex area. This is an opportunity for applicants with an interest in developing skills in this specialist area and with experience in child and adolescent mental health services. The post-holder will provide specialist psychological assessments and treatment interventions working in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team mainly within a hospital environment for children and young people with long term conditions including diabetes, cystic fibrosis and oncology.
This post offers excellent clinical leadership and service development experiences. Further development through the appraisal process and additional leadership/relevant training can be considered with up to £6000 being available over a period of 2-3 years.
Main duties of the job
Qualifications and Experience required:
Doctoral level training or equivalent in clinical psychology, including specifically, models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS. Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups below the age of 18 with presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity.
The South Essex area is geographically close to London with good transport links to the East Anglia region, it has a more affordable standard of living than London itself, making it an attractive place to live and work.
This post is linked to the Clinical Health Psychology Service which is integrated with mental health and community services within the Essex Partnership NHS Trust which specialises in the management of mental health and physical health comorbidity, and varying presentations in physical health conditions, including Cancer & Palliative Care, COPD and respiratory problems, CFS, chronic pain management, Diabetes. There is robust clinical governance, leadership, peer and expert supervision, CPD programmes and outcomes measurement.
