Job summary
We are excited to announce our expansion in delivering frontline psychology services (assessment , formulation and talking therapies) to 18-25 year olds residing in West Essex. You will join a friendly, dynamic, creative Psychology team dedicated to providing robust, evidence based frontline psychological assessments and therapy to 18-25 year olds. We welcome applications from newly qualified psychologists to join the service at band 7 on a preceptorship basis and you will be supported to develop the competencies and progress to 8A within 18 months-3 years. Our scope is working between tiers 2 and 3, within an i-thrive framework offering psychology assessment and interventions to young people experiencing difficulties with anxiety, depression, OCD, self-injury, emotional dysregulation and relationship problems. Staff well-being is important to us and we can offer flexible work patterns.
We offer a CPD package of up to £6,000 to be used in the first three years of employment following successful completion of the probationary period and linked to the appraisal process as agreed with your line manager.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be expected to work autonomously to provide a high quality Psychology service, which will include the provision of psychological therapy, a psychoeducation group programme, assisting young adults in the transition from CAMHS, and ensuring ongoing monitoring and evaluation. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring early intervention through collaborative working with Primary Care colleagues, employment, education and other system partners, supporting early treatment.
This post will be based in the Harlow area but working in other areas will be required as part of the role. You will also provide consultation and training for staff, and placement and supervision for trainees, assistants, CAPs, and volunteers as required.

The Psychology service in West Essex currently comprises approximately nine whole time equivalent Psychologists, two Clinical Associates in Psychology and three Assistants, together with clinical and counselling psychology trainees and volunteers. We also have close links with colleagues locally working in Specialist Dementia & Frailty, Perinatal, Eating Disorders, Liaison, Urgent Community Care and In Patient settings. Within our services, psychologists have specialist skills and training in variety of areas and approaches, including CAT, CBT, CBTp, DBT, EMDR, Schema Therapy and Trauma-Informed approaches. Specialist external supervision is provided in several of these modalities, and CPD is both strongly supported and actively encouraged.
