*An exciting opportunity has arisen for 1WTE 7 preceptor/8a (PLUS an additional 20% payment) Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join our Adult Inpatient Psychological Services Team in North Essex*

The successful candidate will offer specialist clinical skills into our Rehabilitation Unit and offer supervision and training to Inpatient Trainee CAPs as part of our award winning CAPs apprenticeship scheme.

Attached to this post is a Recruitment Retention Premia (RRP) of 20% for 2 years, fixed from the start date. The RRP only applies to the employee whilst they remain in post (subject to successful completion of the 6 months probationary period/in line with appraisals). We acknowledge that inpatient wards post-covid have experienced increased levels of acuity, staffing challenges and that non-inpatient roles have moved towards remote working. Our RRP recognises these changes and supports those individuals who are passionate about working in our inpatient wards.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will have the fantastic opportunity to lead the newly established, award winning, Clinical Associate in Psychology (CAP) apprenticeship scheme for our adult inpatient psychological services settings in EPUT, offering clinical leadership, supervision and 'on the job' training to Trainee CAPs based at the Linden Centre, Chelmsford and provide psychological assessments and therapy at the Ipswich Road Rehabilitation Unit, Colchester. They will work autonomously within professional guidelines to provide a high quality Inpatient Psychological Service assisting or leading service development as agreed, working with the local lead to ensure that the service provided is current, evidence-based and in line with best practice and Trust standards.

Main duties involve clinical, supervisory and training responsibilities. Excellent assessment, formulation and intervention skills to work both short-term with Service Users who present in crisis and longer term with those who have identified rehabilitation needs are essential. The ability to make professional recommendations and risk informed decisions alongside the ward teams is also key, as well as a passion for partnership and MDT working. Duties also cover indirect working (e.g. attending MDTs) and staff support initiatives (e.g. reflective practice). The post sits within the Inpatient and Urgent Care Unit to help shape and deliver trauma informed services.

Our team is comprised of Principle/Senior Practitioners, Arts Psychotherapists, trainees and CAPS. We acknowledge the excellent day-to-day work of our staff team and also pride ourselves on new creative practice as evidenced by recent innovations; such as our Out of Hours access to psychological groups scheme and our nationally recognised staff training packages.

  • HCPC Registration and eligibility for BPS accreditation

  • Good oral communication skills based on fluency on the English Language
