Job summary

EPUT is looking for an enthusiastic General Practitioner with special interest in Eating Disorders to join our Eating Disorders Service based at Northgate Centre, Colchester. This is an exciting supported training role which would enable you to be part of developing the service and would support someone to gain a GPweR status or at level of a practitioner if GPweR status is not something that the post holder wants to pursue.

The post covers the North East Essex area of the trust and it will be necessary to work in a number of different locations according to need.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide a medical assessment, treatment and consultation service for patients referred to the Eating Disorders Service (EDS) and to provide professional support to primary care networks in North East Essex regarding patients with eating disorders. Additionally, the post holder will be required to provide an assessment of physical risk as part of the EDS multi-disciplinary assessment team. This will include arranging and interpreting appropriate investigations (e.g. blood tests).

The post holder will receive clinical supervision addressing both clinical and personal development issues in accordance with the Trust Supervision Policy.

The post holder must have full GMC registration and be on the GP performers list.

Job responsibilities

Medical Assessment and Monitoring

  • To provide a medical assessment, treatment and consultation service for patients referred to the Eating Disorders Service (EDS) and to provide professional support to primary care networks in North East Essex regarding patients with eating disorders.
  • To provide an assessment of physical risk as part of the EDS multi-disciplinary assessment team. This will include arranging and interpreting appropriate investigations (e.g. blood tests).
