Job summary

*A Fantastic new opportunity has arisen for 1WTE 8b Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join our Adult Inpatient Psychological Services Team *

The successful candidate will offer leadership, supervision, training and highly specialist clinical skills into our South Mental Health Unit based at Basildon (or Rochford depending on preference). They will join an established leadership team and receive; reflective practice, CPD and access to supervision groups . Flexible clinicians will prosper in this role as well those individuals who enjoy innovative practice.

Attached to this post is up to £6000 of CPD funding over the course of 3 years for a skills specific training in a therapeutic modality which is aligned with the needs of our service (subject to successful completion of the 6 months probationary period/in line with appraisals). EPUT also offers a relocation package of up to £8,000. Covering a number of expenditures for new recruits relocating from 30 miles or more from their new work base at EPUT. Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will join an existing 8b South Essex Inpatient Psychological Services Local Lead and together they will oversee our 6 south inpatient units. Together, with the wider leadership team, they will ensure that the Adult Inpatient Psychological Services team is current, evidence-based and in line with practice and Trust standards. They will work autonomously within professional guidelines to provide a high quality Inpatient Psychological Service.

The main duties of this job involve both clinical and line managerial responsibilities. The post holder will have excellent assessment, formulation and intervention skills as well as an ability to work short-term with Service Users who present in crisis . They will be skilled and experienced in working in secondary care health settings. The ability to make professional recommendations and risk informed decisions alongside the ward MDT is key. They will also have good supervisory skills and an ability to motivate our existing Inpatient Psychological Services staff . A wider systemic understanding of team and organisational dynamics or an interest in developing this is welcomed. Duties also cover; representation at Trust wide meetings, chairing local service development groups , recruitment and staff support initiatives (e.g. staff training).

We, the Adult Inpatient Psychological Services team aim to understand the impact of trauma and adverse experiences on an individuals crisis presentation within the hospital setting. We work together with our MDT colleagues to ensure our Service Users experience purposeful inpatient admissions and timely discharges.

EPUTs Adult Inpatient Psychological Services team coversix inpatient sites across Essex. Each site has a Principle Lead overseeing the area. Our team is comprised of Principle/Senior Practitioners, Arts Psychotherapists, trainees and CAPS. We acknowledge the excellent day-to-day work of our staff team and also pride ourselves on new creative practice as evidenced by recent innovations; such as our Out of Hours access to psychological groups scheme and our nationally recognised staff training packages.

As well as applicants from the UK, we encourage overseas candidates to apply for this role. We welcome diversity within our organisation.
